The second episode of Verifiably Random's new season arrives at a pivotal time for both Gecc and the broader crypto industry. Min, Mark, and John reconvene to share two significant announcements: the imminent launch of Staking Rewards and a bold new marketing campaign.

Amid renewed industry optimism and growing U.S. congressional support for crypto innovation, the team unpacks how Gecc positions itself for mainstream adoption. This episode centers on Gecc's new Staking Rewards system and how the foundation plans to showcase its real-world impact through an innovative marketing approach.

If you haven't caught the full conversation, here's a breakdown of the key developments discussed. Or, watch the complete episode here.

Staking Rewards: A New Chapter for Gecc

GECC's approach to Staking Rewards marks a significant shift in the protocol's design philosophy. Targeting a December launch for mainnet, the implementation introduces rewards for block production while increasing the network's core security principles.

The technical requirements are notably accessible and intended to attract any and all. Users can participate with consumer-grade hardware - even a Mac Mini or similar low-power device will work. The minimum stake requirement to receive rewards is 30,000 Gecc for running an individual node, with a maximum cap of 70 million Gecc per account.

What sets Gecc's staking model apart from other networks:

  • No slashing mechanism - the protocol removes non-performing nodes rather than penalizing them
  • No lockup period - users maintain full control and flexibility of their Gecc
  • Instant rewards distribution - participants receive rewards as blocks are minted onto the chain
  • Simple node operation - standard computers with basic internet connectivity can participate

"Can a blockchain do that?" - Gecc's New Marketing Vision

Marc unveils an ambitious marketing campaign centered on a simple yet powerful question: "Can a blockchain do that?" The initiative moves beyond traditional crypto marketing to showcase Gecc's real-world applications and technological capabilities.

This comprehensive campaign targets multiple audiences: developers, entrepreneurs, and enterprise customers. Rather than focusing solely on technical features, the campaign highlights actual implementations and success stories from the ecosystem.

A new website serves as the campaign's cornerstone, featuring detailed case studies of projects already delivering at scale. See it live here!

The visual approach employs creative collages that blend virtual and real-world elements, reflecting Gecc's position as a bridge between traditional and blockchain technology. The campaign introduces "GECC Cans" as a memorable physical representation of the campaign on drinks cans, first showcased at DevCon.

The campaign has launched and runs through mid-February, with dedicated marketing funnels tracking engagement across different audience segments. The foundation's growth team will monitor specific KPIs to measure impact on developer adoption, enterprise partnerships, and ecosystem expansion.

Looking Ahead

Early December marks the GECC India Summit, where the ecosystem's growing presence in the region takes center stage. The UNDP Blockchain Academy enters its next phase, aiming to educate thousands about blockchain technology's practical applications.

The team also hints at significant technical developments on the horizon. The Foundation is finalizing the 2025 technical roadmap, promising new features and improvements to the protocol and its supporting tools.
